i really wanted to watch the movie 'A Rose for Emily' today in class but then again we did have an interesting conversation. The title of the story is curious to me. Never in the book was a rose physically mentioned. but after the conversations we had in class, it made a little more sense on what a rose was to emily. again still creeped out how she slept with a dead guy. yeah still creeped out.

oh also on side notes...my paper...yeah it's horrible. really it is. my brain seriously just died. it just blanked. i will write a better paper next time. I SWEAR!!! i have to. if this one was so crappy. i just have to. my brain can't die, like it did last time. why can't i be analytical like everyone else in class. oy.

on a different side note, i really am not liking the library right now for closing off all the sections i need for school! really mold. why can't you infect our school at a different time. right now everyone needs the books from the library. i mean that's what it is there for, to get books from. it's no help if you can't get any books for projects. but anyways i'm starting to become one of those deranged psycho women from our readings. (which by the way, i've noticed it's all women who have been going crazy, there's no men.) but that's another last side note.

Hmmm today we analyzed 'A Rose for Emily' and to agree with what Andrew said in class. wow we are reading some pretty twisted or crazy things. Good literature....just crazy. I've just never really thought of someone killing a person because she loves him and wants to be with him thus being able to hide him from the world and the social norms she faced in town. Miss Emily really was a southern belle, it was kind of interesting to read about her life, always i've seen old movies about southern belles but not read about them. i've read about people killing another person because they can't stand the thought of them being with someone else but to kill someone and to keep them in their attic. that goes beyond i think love, that's just creepy.

okay so after peer editing andrew's paper on friday. i realized just how much my paper sucked. i really am a scatter brain and my thoughts were everywhere on the paper. i think they are still scattered but i'm fixing them and hopefully it won't be to crummy of a paper. i used to be really good at transitioning my thoughts from paragraph to paragraph but now i'm not too sure. I've just become crummy at it. or at least i feel crummy at it.

It's amazing to me that the yellow wallpaper was based on a near true event. why is it amazing. maybe it's because i took on the view point of some of the readers from when the story was first published and though that this woman was nuts for writing it and submitting it to the newspaper. ahhh such narrowmindedness i have. or sheltered. either or it was just pretty amazing to read about this woman's downhill spiral. and the people who "supposed" love her are actually not helping her get better. or is it herself who isn't helping herself out. does that make sense? hmmm i hope so. perhaps i am the one who is just going nuts.

English. So i'm really quite behind. or so i feel like it. I'll just have to work hard this quarter to catch up and understand. It really does or did stink that I had a horrible english 102 teacher. (sorry i really shouldn't bad mouth anymore, what's done is done) I'm excited to read Hamlet again. that will be good. some of the readings seem to be very interesting. also some of the reading that's not assigned, that I've just flipped through the book and found are pretty amusing.

So on Monday we took a glossary test. Needless to say I am not very good at memorizing definitions of literary terms. I ended up doing a lot better than I thought though. 13 out of 18. erm missed terms like foil and motif though....probably should have gotten those but oh well. I went into the test a bit worried I guess because I haven't been in Honors English before. I just really want to do well in this class. Actually I want to do well in all classes but especially English.
